British Heavy Mortar Unit

This Mortar unit contains 3 squads of two models making up three heavy mortars.

During World War II, the British heavy mortar was well-represented by the Ordnance ML 4.2-inch mortar. Introduced in the 1930s, this weapon became a staple in the British and Commonwealth forces. The ML 4.2-inch mortar had a caliber of 107mm and was known for its versatility and firepower. Typically operated by a crew, it could fire a variety of projectiles, including high-explosive and smoke rounds, providing effective support for infantry in the field. The mortar was mounted on a base plate and had a distinctive appearance with its long barrel. The ML 4.2-inch mortar played a crucial role in providing indirect fire support, contributing to the suppression of enemy positions and fortifications during various campaigns of World War II.

Why add it to your army?

The heavy mortar can be a game changer. It fires like artillery so allows you to shower your enemy with high explosives from almost anywhere on the battlefield. While it is of limited use against more heavily armoured targets, it can cause havoc with infantry, artillery and transports.

When you purchase this unit you will also receive online access to the 'artillery' add on rules for our 'simple rules' so that you can fully experience the benefit of adding this to your army.
