Hawker Hurricane
 
The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter aircraft that played a significant role in World War II, particularly during the Battle of Britain. Introduced in the late 1930s, it was the Royal Air Force's (RAF) first monoplane fighter aircraft with an enclosed cockpit and retractable landing gear. The Hurricane was armed with eight .303 Browning machine guns mounted in its wings, providing formidable firepower.
 
During the Battle of Britain in 1940, the Hurricane formed the backbone of the RAF's Fighter Command, alongside the Supermarine Spitfire. While the Spitfire gained more public attention, the Hurricane actually accounted for the majority of enemy aircraft shot down during the battle.
